The Chinese version of Forbes magazine Tuesday chose the top 10 people in the Chinese mainland who are most respected in the international community, with Ren Zhengfei, chairman of Huawei Technologies topping the listThis was the first time Forbes released this kind of list in China.
Following Ren in order were: Ma Huateng, CEO of Tencent; Li Ning, chairmen of sports brand Li-Ning; NetEase CEO Ding Lei; Ma Yun, founder of the Alibaba Group; Wang Chuanfu, founder of BYD; Baidu President Li Yanhong; President of Lenovo Liu Chuanzhi; Shi Zhengrong, chairman and CEO of Suntech Power; and Zhang Ruimin, founder and CEO of Haier Group.
According to Forbes, this ranking was determined according to the index including prestige, brands awareness, internationalization, scale of the enterprises, and returns to shareholders.
Six of the 10 are from the IT industry.
Meanwhile, Huang Rulun, chairman of Century Golden Resources Group, was named the 2009 person of corporate social responsibility, while Wal-Mart China CEO Chen Yaochang was selected as the person of the year with a low-carbon economy
