Subsequent用法：①You use subsequent to describe something that happened or existed after the time or event that has just been referred to.
②If something happened subsequent to something else, it happened after that thing.
例句：The parasite itself subsequently ceases to grow and is therefore restricted to one or a few cells around the entry site.(1996-01)
Subsequent reforms have made these notions seem quite out-of-date. (2000-01)

Substantial
用法：①Substantial means large in amount or degree.

Successive
用法：①Successive means happening or existing one after another without a break.
例句：Native Americans probably arrived from Asia in successive waves over several millennia, crossing a plain hundreds of miles wide that now lies inundated by 160 feet of water released by melting glaciers. (2003-10)
Animation traditionally is done by hand-drawing or painting successive frames of an object, each slightly different than the preceding frame. (2005-05)
