World Heart Day
. B% x1 B. P5 `. B2 N Sunday was World Heart Day. The world Heart Federation and its member groups in more than one hundred countries organized the celebrations. The World Health Organization and other United Nations agencies provided support __B__1____ the event.1 ?+ F( G/ ?& X) {# \
World Heart Day was first observed six years __C__2____. Organizers proposed the event at a way to help reduce the spread of heart disease. The World Heart Federation says heart __C__3____ kills seventeen million people each year.* J4 P( |, A; g5 [
The group urges people to be active and have a good, healthy diet. It also warns __A__4____ activities known to increase a person’s risk of heart attack or stroke.
4 k3 L6 f- M1 L/ ~% ISome of the warnings are directed at children. The World Heart Federation says about twenty-two million boys and girls under the age of five are obese-severely overweight.: T1 E: _/ L0 Z* `6 l
Children are normally energetic and active. However, two thirds of all __B__5____ are not active enough. Such children greatly ___D_6____ their risk of becoming obese. They also increase their __D__7____ of developing heart disease or other disorders.

9 C: U" W( O, u* W5 P The World Heart Federation urges parents to keep their children __D__9____. It says physical exercise helps to decrease the risk of obesity and __C_10____ a child healthy. Obese children often become obese adults. __A__11____ you believe your child is too heavy, talk with a health care provider.2 v9 r! Y$ \* r& x6 E
The World Heart Federation also is concerned about the effects of tobacco on young people. It says the younger someone begins to smoke, the __A__12____ the chance of a health problem tied to smoking. Half of the young people who continue to smoke are ___C__13___ to die later in life from a smoking-related disease.
+ X! a6 f/ a& E0 O) l' } The group says almost half of all children live with a smoker. It says children who live with a __D__14____ can breathe an amount of tobacco equal to more than two thousand cigarettes. And that is by the time they are five years old.
