答案及解析:
1.only后加did
否定词not only提前，句子主谓要倒装。根据后面一句的时态可判断为过去时，故要在they前加助动词did。
注：not only…but also连接两个主语时，不用倒装，如：
Not only the students, but also the teacher wishes for a holiday. </p>
2. not后加to
本句是省略句，原句应该是The boy wanted to ride his bicycle in the street, but his mother told him not to ride bicycle in the street.在动词不定式结构中，为了避免重复，常常省略不定式结构中的动词原形，只保留to。
3. begin -%26gt; begun
在以when, while, if, as if, though (although), as, whether, once等连词引导的时间、原因、条件、方式、让步等状语从句中，常常省略相同的主语或作主语的代词it以及be动词，保留现在分词、过去分词、介词短语、不定式等。本题中once后省略了(it is) begun。
