NANJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Large state-owned enterprises (SOEs) should play a greater role in promoting innovation, senior Chinese leader Zhou Yongkang during a visit to the eastern Jiangsu Province.
7 U# u6 u9 a5 S) g" N Zhou, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said during a tour of XCMG Group, a state-owned heavy machinery firm, based in Xuzhou City, that large SOEs shouldered major tasks in promoting innovation.; U( z8 t4 u& k9 H
He said XCMG should develop more core technologies and continue leading the sector.

The central government has been endeavoring to ensure migrant workers are paid promptly ahead of the Spring Festival, when hundreds of millions of migrants return home with money saved.
