《傲慢与偏见》内容简介：
　　小说讲述了bennet一家五位千金的婚姻与爱情，表达了婚姻必须建立在爱情和经济两个基础上的婚姻观。傲慢而深情的达西先生成为小说塑造的一个经典形象。简奥斯丁的语言简练而幽默，反复品味，趣味无穷。
　　翻译例句：
　　he (mr.bingley) had entertained hopes of being admitted to a sight of the young ladies, of whose beauty he had heard much. (chapter 3)
　　他久仰班纳特家几位小姐的美貌，所以很想见到她们。(第三章)
　　翻译要点：
　　上面句子中entertain一词，大家通常了解的意思是“娱乐、招待、款待”，然而这个词还有另外一个常见的用法，就是表示“心怀、怀有、抱有（某种希望、想法等）”。我们可以说entertain a hope，或者entertain an idea。小说中的这个词可以就简单翻译成“很想、很希望”。
　　英译汉例句：

　　最后，还有另外一个大家也很熟悉的词，可以表达这里entertain一样的用法，但是很不正式，那就是flirt，flirt with an idea也可以表达“考虑，琢磨”的意思，但是不能用于正式文本当中。
