　　翻译要点：
: i( C" ?1 M( b　　上面句子中entertain一词，大家通常了解的意思是“娱乐、招待、款待”，然而这个词还有另外一个常见的用法，就是表示“心怀、怀有、抱有（某种希望、想法等）”。我们可以说entertain a hope，或者entertain an idea。小说中的这个词可以就简单翻译成“很想、很希望”。
　　英译汉例句：

　　例句：
　　1.我指望在婚礼上见到他，但是他始终没有出现。
　　I have entertained the hope of meeting him at the wedding, but he never showed up.
