  81、 Not only are liver transplants never rejected,but they even induce a state of donor-specific unresponsiveness in which subsequent transplants of other organs,such as skin,from thatdonor are accepted permanently. (4)
! P, C7 t, e.
干扰度比较大的是在修饰unresponsiveness的定语从句in which subsequent transplants of other organs, such as skin, from that donor are accepted permanently中,插入语such as skin和前面的transplants搭配的from that donor共同作用,反复地打断读者的思路,使得从句中主语和谓语不能连贯。. K/ m7 B+ L5 G1 B1 J' I3 k
Not only are liver transplants never rejected,but they even induce a state of donor-specific unresponsiveness in which subsequent transplants of other organs,such as skin,from thatdonor are accepted permanently.

As rock interface are crossed, the elastic characteristics encountered (by seismic waves)generally change abruptly, which causes part of the energy to be reflected back to the surface, where it is recorded by seismic instruments.

(4)
其中以第一个分词结构showing that it was a posthumous production of the Danaid tetralogy which bested Sophocles的意思较为难懂,有两个地方要解释一下:1 h! \4 O: ^/ Y
While the new doctrine seems almost certainly correct,the one papyrus fragment raises the specter that another may be unearthed,showing,for instance,that it was a posthumous production of the Danaid tetralogy which bested Sophocles,and throwing the date oncemore into utter confusion.

8 h; N0 u! 从句中的被动语态the vagaries of the wind are compensated for by the generation of vast quantities of pollen有些特殊,因为文中不是按照中文的习惯说are compensated,而是说compensated for,这是由于主语the vagaries of the wind并不是被补偿的对象,而是补偿的对象,后面的at the expense of是以…
Traditionally, pollination by wind has been viewed as a reproductive process marked by random events in which the vagaries of the wind are compensated for by the generation of vast quantities of pollen, so that the ultimate production of new seeds is assured at the expense of producing much more pollen than is actually used.

</p> 86、 Because the potential hazards pollen grains are subject to as they are transported over long distances are enormous,wind pollinated plants have,in the view above,compensated for theensuing loss of pollen through happenstance by virtue of producing an amount of pollen that is one to three orders of magnitude greater than the amount produced by species pollinated by insects.
Because the potential hazards that pollen grains are subject to as they are transported over long distances are enormous,其中主语后的pollen grains are subject to本来就是一个定语从句,但是由于主语the potential hazards在从句中作介词to的宾语,所以引导词that被省略,这就显得句子的结构模糊不清,再加上as引导的状语从句,隔开了主语和谓语,给读者造成了较大的阅读困难。
( \( \2 w% h# V* t9 ?+ w' z 意群训练:Because the potential hazards pollen grains are subject to as they are transported over long distances are enormous,wind pollinated plants have,in the view above,compensated for theensuing loss of pollen through happenstance by virtue of producing an amount of pollen that is one to three orders of magnitude greater than the amount produced by species pollinated by insects., f* @. 87、 For example,the spiral arrangement of scale-bract complexes on ovule-bearing pine cones,where the female reproductive organs of conifers are located,is important to the production of airflow patterns that spiral over the cone’s surfaces,thereby passing airborne pollen from one scale to the next. q2 R- B7 |$ \+ I+ a' \
另外,句中的大量生词也明显干扰了我们的理解,spiral arrangment(螺旋状安排)、scale-bract complexes(鳞苞综合体)、ovule-bearing(携带胚珠的)、pine cones(松果)、female reproductive organ(雌性生殖器官)、airflow pattern(气流模式)等。
比如这个句子,读者只要能够读出the arrangement of female reproductive organs of conifers are important to reduce the ollen waste这个意思即可。- v/ L7 a. c* I2 a0 C

. i8 N) z3 u: `0 h4 F  解释:本句的前半部分简单,后面的宾语从句中的第二个状语by technological developments 后面跟着的定语从句中出现了倒装:the made/possible/the recruitment of the whole female sex into public industry的正常语序应该是that made the recruiment of the whole female sex into public industry/possible/,固定搭配make…possible中的副词possible被倒装到了前面。: N+ D! {( U- B- C: H- v

! n9 \1 j* |1 s( n# C: c  解释:这句话的结构是It was something that,,,It是形式主语,其真正的内容是was之后、that、之前的something的内容。 It was the separation of secretarial work from administrative work that created a new class of jobs。

后面的had less to do with…than do with…
$ f1 @# b( _$ k 意群训练:The increase in the numbers of married women employed outside the home in the twentiethcentury had less to do with the mechanization of housework and an increase in leisure time for these women than it did with their own economic necessity and with high marriage rates that shrank the available pool of single women workers,previously,in many cases,the only women employers would hire.
