The World Expo 2010 in Shanghai has impacted positively on the sustainable development of Chinese private enterprises, according to a survey released by Ernst & Young at the Chinese Private Enterprise Pavilion at the Expo Park on Tuesday.
( B' P3 S; [1 m8 |& z# C6 z9 `0 ` The 100 people questioned were selected from high-ranking management of private companies and Ernst & Young partners who provide services to Chinese private enterprises in various industries. Questions covered several aspects, including corporate strategy, corporate image, innovation and talent aggregation.
/ L5 [" ?; y5 |) u1 V% u- Q The report found that 73 percent of respondents believed the Expo helped private enterprises gain new theories, thoughts and practical experience for business operation and development, while 71 percent agreed the Expo helped them consolidate and improve relations between enterprises and international communities and governments.
% }# X" e U( ~9 r, _; Q- b The report also said that 66 percent of respondents admitted that the Expo led their companies to challenge or re-think their market position and their development strategy; 63 percent said the Expo promoted bilateral cooperation and communication between companies; and 61 percent found that the Expo helped maintain positive relations between their enterprises and major clients as well as helping them meet new customers, suppliers and business partners.9 V1 m# O* J/ |; Y: I: ~
However, only 49 percent believed that the Expo directly helped to improve the sales of their products.
' f' ~& V3 X3 z1 I! A h- I3 ]/ h According to Terrence Ho, partner and China IPO leader at Ernst & Young, most respondents said the Expo had more positive impacts on the long-term development and intangible assets of companies rather than short-term gains.

"We've had so many successful examples during the past days. Of 2 million visitors to the pavilion so far, some 100,000 of them were VIPs, including officials, entrepreneurs, and special foreign guests, who are valuable in the legacy we have accumulated during the Expo," Sun said.) According to the report, nearly 80 percent of respondents said that the China Private Enterprise Pavilion helped to improve the corporate image and branding of Chinese private enterprises. |
