 1.犹豫不定be of two minds   我打算买辆汽车,可心里一直犹豫不定,不知道买那个牌子的好。# u5 n. m' o/ f7 {4 i5 n: T5 \
  I’m thinking of buying a car, but I’m still of two minds .I can hardly decide as to which brand I should take.
' V% \7 Q# j7 I5 u* Q  2.心事重重 some thing weighs heavily on one’s mind
/ u* y. E1 M8 U& t1 M0 G( V  老板这几天沉默寡言,看起来好像是心事重重的4 F6 r& W. P6 C2 B- f( T" N
  The boss is quite down these days. He seems to have something weighing heavily on his mind.
& t0 E" ~$ y- q7 ~3 I  3.埋头苦干 keep one’s nose to the grindstone0 M+ H1 l% u9 K3 S" S
  这年头,只会埋头苦干的人是挣不了大钱的
) L1 M% M. F  w, R+ D) J" H  These years those who’re keeping their nose to the grindstone can’t make bundles.
, P7 Y2 l6 A# [& x6 C  4.心凉了半截 cool one’s ardor8 a8 c) X5 g6 B* c
  莉莉深深爱上了公司的老板并打算嫁给他,但是当她听说他玩弄过几个女孩子之后,她的心都凉了半截。% c. v. L+ N, J% V3 v7 J
  Lily was head over heels in love with their company’s boss and was thinking of marrying him, but the news that he had taken several girls for a ride cooled her ardor.
% }% _' m) M% H+ s9 T  5.使人大为激动make one’s spine tingle- N7 K9 f4 h. x' p
  小李答应与他结婚使他大为激动

  6.怀恨在心 bear somebody a grudge% X% \3 X# {! @/ N! d
  千万别得罪他,他会对你怀恨在心的
% O- A8 U0 P  `. r% ?  Take care not to offend him, or he’ll bear you a grudge.
4 l3 d* i  i! G8 X& s- {, }  7.感到四肢无力 feel wobbly and rough.

  Who would like to feel left out at such a function?

  11.苦苦哀求 press one’s suit
4 g: d0 @: N% d  U, i0 b. t" w  她苦苦哀求丈夫再给她一次机会5 @. v( g) |4 I' j/ X
  She pressed her suit and asked her husband to give her another chance.
- t- K  S3 U; t0 B1 ^% g; h* A  (苦苦哀求:press one’s suit. suit 指“乞求或恳求”)

  这些娘们儿都闲得无聊,不是坐在那里说长道短,就是三五成群的谈论别人家的“丑闻”

  13.推卸责任 pass the buck
& ^8 `" e" ?1 r2 B7 B  当老板问起是谁把消息说出去的时候,他们两个人相互推卸责任。
! m5 O* n+ y" t" C! |  When the boss was asking who had disclosed the news ,the two of them began to pass the buck to each other.
. C; e% D4 Y2 q9 D) x. r9 T  14.承担后果 face the music' a! Z/ n# V* B5 M% w( K; h1 Q
  这件事是他们三个人一起干的,可是现在谁也不愿意承担后果
& x, c3 z) P3 ~1 G  It was done by the three of them. But none of them want to face the music now.
' j/ |! u3 x/ d7 R* y7 o. z  15.真烦人a pill
0 j4 S$ j5 y  E* |# o9 K  她真烦人,整天唠唠叨叨的
2 E3 Y5 Y% k* X" e8 d' y, u  She’s really a pill, spending whole day harping and complaining.( u9 z/ \5 B; F# w0 J
  16.饶不了某人not put anything past somebody, n3 A2 G( e" ?/ {+ k* K
  如果他胆敢给我使坏,我就饶不了他。
# f0 O) h4 o! B' n  If he dare hit me below the belt, I won’t put anything past him.
& u' f# D# U& b4 V6 x6 R; d* ^. r* A4 t  17.一门心思have one’s heart set on2 V$ k" ]4 P7 \- `7 U7 [% _
  他的女儿一门心思想嫁给一个日本人+ _4 f! e  n) \- v- j
  His daughter has had her heart set on marrying a Japanese man.
; F2 h2 _& @  F+ C  18.心烦意乱 nerves on edge
  \' W+ z. I. d  {3 l- n! ^/ z3 n% N1 |  这几天不知是什么事把我搞得心烦意乱的
4 W, @, \$ T+ y  m  I don’t know what has set my nerves on edge these days.
+ j- J% M0 r- R; H# J  19.那可不行nothing doing
) V6 M0 s2 I, B; P. i2 C$ _: p  又要用我的车?那可不行!

  20.容易极了Nothing to it
' I. @# w% F( k9 r  你能说服我爸爸么? Can you convince my father?

5 m0 n5 m7 F' e/ o  当他们同意把那批货以那样的价格卖给你的时候,你难道没有感到有些可疑么?

  23.敬而远之give a wide berth to

/ U! z6 L  G& \4 a/ |; V' ?1 w  You’d better give a wide berth to a guy of his sort.

  (此语源于中世纪得“泼柏油战法”。据说loggerhead是中世纪人们用来熔解柏油的用具。在海战中,敌对的两只船相互用loggerhead泼柏油)
