We are not at rest; we are on a journey. Our life is a movement, a tendency, a steady, ceaseless progress towards an unseen goal. We are gaining something, or losing something, everyday. Even when our position and our character seem to remain precisely the same, they are changing. For the mere advance of time is a change. It is not the same thing to have a bare field in January and in July. The season makes the difference. The limitations that are childlike in the child are childish in the man.

本段之末句，简直令我们作者文思如瀑！作者妙用了近义词childlike / childish 。人生如世界之过客，看似近乎之人性，但是时过境迁，其性质发生了变化，和上句It is not the same thing to have a bare field in January and in July. 构成平行对比，发人深省，但是作者并没有依据上句“画瓢”，如写成：It is not the same thing to be childlike in the child and in the man.
