, Q9 I& \0 V3 l
  M:Your driving is getting better, Li Hua. Hey, you'd better slow down. This is a 35 mile per hour zone.+ e, B% ~/ U! [
  O8 S% q0 v# w+ R. E3 A. { M:Calm down, Li Hua. Just find a parking lot and stop the car. The cop will follow us, and come over to your window to talk to you.
2 G( @( r* R" I# _5 ]  M:That's right. "Cop" means police officer.
  M:Calm down! Sometimes the cops stop people just to warn them, not to give them a ticket. You weren't going very fast anyway.
" B: `* W! e. B: A) x! U+ _
  M:When I say "the cops", I mean the police in general. I'm not talking about any cop in particular.
N  ]9 K! [( |" W" M2 o
  M:No! The word "cop" is too informal. You should show respect when talking to the cops. Call him "officer", don't call him "cop"!( j8 E* [# w  O" Q3 H' [
- ~7 R  ?5 u& Y# {# i  Y  M:Li Hua, don't worry. I'm sure this isn't very serious.
  y7 {3 D* o: S- {+ X8 M1 V  M:See, Li Hua, I was right. The cop didn't give you a ticket.6 j) N' H1 ]) Q, N, E& c9 J+ K
$ k% e( B+ I5 N5 A M:I told you not to freak out. If a cop sees that you are nervous, he will be even more suspicious of you.
$ @1 z5 i- C! O8 t6 A  L:你告诉我什么?叫我别下车?
& t$ @1 q) @7 q+ \; V* ]  M:No, I told you not to "freak out". "Freak out" means to panic or to act crazy and excited.6 ]" ]+ J7 X5 D7 g7 P0 j1 ]6 E8 z
对不对?  p; Y+ f6 L) I
  M:That's right. Actually, I was the one who should have been freaking out!
  M:Because this is my car, and you only have a learner's permit. I'd be responsible if you got in trouble.3 G9 `3 |. I7 D7 U* R  Q& F
0 `6 }! c0 C# \- o/ B9 a6 d: [) O  M:Hey! Li Hua, look out for that car!
' O2 t; \+ L) y# q" o  L:Don't freak out, Michael.
2 A6 c/ c! ?! \& l  M:Oh, man! that was close! That guy is crazy! I wish the cops were here to see that!/ [& R. x' y/ j& t( B
6 T  {3 p, P! M. c6 d+ I, Q5 X  M:Me too. Now, drive carefully!
