　　Eye behavior can give subtle messages which
　　people pick up in their daily life. It tells more than
　　words can. Meeting or failing to meet another person's
　　eyes produce a particular effect.When two Americans __1__

　　1.把produce改为produces
　　本句中两个主语meeting和failing to meet another person's eye 用or连接，这时谓语动词应该采取就近原则，与最相邻的主语一致。
　　2.把at改为into
　　此处的动作应该是look into（注视），而不是一般的“看”（look at）。
　　3.把where改为how
　　上下文介绍的是目光交流的方式方法。
　　4.把after改为when/if
　　5.在accused前面加上the
　　intimidate（胁迫）是一个及物动词，后面不能只接形容词，此处应该加上定冠词，与accused构成名词短语，表示一类人，即“被告”。本句的意思是：
　　例如，只要运用目光，男人就可以让女人很自在或者不舒服地感觉到他的存在；而警察或法官的长时间的注视可以威吓被告。
　　6.删除being
　　7.把such改为so
　　8.把other改为another
　　表示不定指代的“一个或者另一个”应该用one and/or another。
　　9.把inattentive改为attentive
　　10.在control前面加上to
