         在这一课中，我们将继续听Michael如何描述公司第三个经营理念：cooperation（合作），同时学习在演讲中常用到的一些词组。 本课的重点词汇

上一次我们听到了Michael是如何介绍公司经营理念中的"信任和诚实"，今天我们再来听听他如何描述公司第三个经营理念：cooperation（合作）的：
* ?4 n+ {. h, A! MAlso, cooperation is essential in business. In order to compete equaly with other companies, cooperation in
our company is very important. In this respect, we make a special effort to establish good communication and cooperative relationships between management and labor.
听完上面Michael的演讲，可以看出他认为"在经营中，合作是基本的条件"。 essential这个词表达了"基本的、必须的、不可缺"的意思；它的重要性用一个句子就可以体现出来，那就是：
Food is essential to life.（食物是生命中必不可少的。）
' ?$ _, [+ V- _! _3 e7 j$ e另外，如果你在招聘广告上看到：
' J( C' h8 _5 x　Wanted, a good secretary: experience essential.

　　意思就是"征求优秀秘书一名，必须有经验"。
　　下面我们再来看一下respect这个词，Michael所说的respect可不是"尊敬"的意思， 而是代表 "方面、点"，in this respect就表示"在这方面"，如果你想表达公司在某一方面是落后于别人的，就可以说： 　　　　　 We are lagging(落后) behind in this respect. 当然你还可以使用下面的词组：
* s6 y% n2 b9 z9 _7 P5 G　 in all respects / in every respect(在所有方面)；
2 p* W1 e% b; U# i2 L8 ?, @' j in some respects（在某些方面）；
　　 另外在Michael 说的这段话中，又见到了我们所熟悉的make an effort这个表示"努力做……" 的短语。现在将这个短语丰富一下，你可以说：
  |/ `) v) a0 S# u& z' ^6 u" ~make a special effort　（做特殊的努力），也可以说：
make no effort　(不做任何努力)；
/ T, n) t6 M/ J8 f  O! V4 {8 g如果在工作中需要你去学习某种技能，你就要 make a great effort to acquire the skill.
' h; a. S9 G5 F! K' P- f虽然Michael提到了合作的重要，但是在公司中，合作与竞争应该是密不可分的，良好的竞争机制能够让公司充满活力，所以Michael说完了"合作"，又补充一句：

　　Michael的意思是 "在让员工保持合作关系的同时，也促使他们互相竞争"， 这里的maintaining实际上是动词maintain（保留、保持）的分词形式，在这里做状语，表示和主语的动作是同时发生的，比如说：
% n( X. X; @0 G5 O! H4 Q& F+ XPlease fill in this form, giving your name, address, etc.
　　意思是"请把这份表填一下，写下你的姓名、住址等" 最后我们再来听一下Michael
" Z  C3 g  s1 q$ r0 m　　对公司这三种经营理念的总结：
  　Based on this philosophy, we hope to contribute to our customers, employees and the 　　 　society.
首先他说到Based on this philosophy，意思就是"基于这种经营理念"，在表示"以……为基础，基于……"的时候，be based on 这个句式是非常有用的。
1 {1 z( B% o6 h: l" s比如说在财务上，  Direct taxation is　usually based on income.
3 f% r6 s" {2 }2 F2 m　　意思就是"直接税通常以收入为基础"；
$ |0 S  [8 E- u6 {　　这里我们要重点讲解的一个词就是contribute, 这个词可以表示"捐赠（钱物），贡献、 提供"等意思，做不及物动词的时候，后面要加上介词to. 我们来看下面这句良言，
Honesty and hard work contribute to a success. （诚实加苦干有助于成功。）
　　在Michael 致辞中，他说：
+ l" {8 p; l. y( B' Q7 ^  　to contribute to our customers, employees and the society
& A8 d/ O2 G2 [: A　　意思就是"贡献给我们的顾客、员工以及整个社会"。他把公司这三种理念的运用到整个社会上，让客人们确实感受到了公司的真心诚意。
