Legal English is the combination of law and English. Due to the spread of English as the predominant language of international business relations, as well as its role as a legal language within the European Union, legal English is now a global phenomenon in many aspects.
# ]) r4 F! M$ _# O# @ Firstly,it’s more peaceful and effective dealing with intercountry conflict through legal process. But a feeling has existed for a long period in the international legal community that traditional English language training is not sufficient to meet lawyers’ English language requirements. The main reason for this is that such training generally ignores the ways in which English usage may be modified by the particular demands of legal practice – and by the conventions of legal English as a separate branch of English in itself. So we see the need of learning legal English as a means to protect the reasonable rights and interests of our country in the international negotiations. " d+ |4 f. D& e( v* c4 |7 J
Secondly,learning legal English provides us with an access to other countries’ legal documents and other legal materials.As we all know ,there are three main legal traditions and lots of other legal traditions not widely distributed. Every legal tradition has both the advanced and backward sides,which is why we need learn from each other and get our legal system improved.Only by learning legal English well can we read those documents without misunderstandings and know more about other countries’ legal traditions and modern legal systems thus to improve our own one. www.ExamW.CoM% v' g& H2 u, A/ j8 e
Thirdly,the brain bank in this field is very short. In China,English schools and legal school are widespread in a variety of universities and there are a quantity of professionals in both field. However,schools of legal English are rare and so are the professionals in this field. As twenty-first-century college students,we have to shoulder this burden—To master legal English, to create a team of professionals of legal English and to fill the blank of our country in international law. |
