 Word choice is precise ("cosmetics to accentuate their new bobbed haircuts"), sentences are structured to communicate ideas clearly ("There had to be another cause, and there was, the media"), and transitional phrases help move the argument forward ("Unlike the twenties, the sixties????" and "By doing so, King successfully began to change the traditional view of race.")  
* C& X. B# L0 u/ X) s$ e# }& h  Occasional errors do appear (e.g., note the lack of logical comparison in "women??? wore their hemlines??? shorter than the decade before them"), but they are not intrusive.3 J: ^5 m! E, u8 \/ K" E

. P* X! u$ A0 ?* ^. D3 {# }+ Q  Other 6 essays might be more fully developed; indeed, this essay would be stronger if the writer had gone on to discuss the media's role in Nixon's Watergate scandal and to bring the argument to its conclusion.
/ ]$ ?4 i  [6 w: G' J: w; [
! n2 {0 p) U6 r) b  However, even in its unfinished state, the essay does present an insightful, well-articulated discussion of the issue.
# u" y7 `- P7 O: P; F% {$ S
% s5 F# @0 i! @, U& k$ R& ]( Q  5、& Q; x+ \6 S1 [- j: t+ W$ E

0 V/ i+ j6 e0 L2 X6 U  There are some who would say that the media reflects the values of society.
3 e  k# w# F# o1 ~. O& d& D; s
; T, @# V, t* i  H3 I" B  I believe however, that the media in fact tend to create values in a society.

2 k: j, D" w/ z. G* B  H& t  The values created may be far different from the values that our society would choose to embrace.2 K5 ^4 e; i' w# U: M
+ E$ B2 T. h  n6 ?1 u/ `
  I offer two examples that serve well to illistrate that the media can in fact shape the very moral fibers in our society.8 F: P7 v# k4 y& ?

  Through music we can proclaim our love, communicate feelings, and express new attiudes./ u2 z! x  f2 s; A; u1 \9 b

  Music is widely available to almost everyone in our society.  H" E- n" o7 L5 ]
/ \; }# v" i/ y7 g
  To see how music has changed the values of our society, one needs only to look to the urban sprawl.2 {, f4 d% I: C0 O) W3 R
9 `9 H# _' `" [2 T8 e
  Rap and gangsta styles of music reach millions of city teens and young adults.( f" i: t- }& S9 U
5 W3 N' |* P/ z: f$ u' Q
  It's message is quite simple- violence, drugs,and sex .$ u. ^% O8 g& t$ M% L8 V. ]# F

, x4 J6 w1 x/ [  Young people are constantly bombarded with the message that if you want something all you have to do is to take it.+ q  ~/ f" Q7 r; {( p+ D0 k

, N) R6 Y+ ~9 }) d* _3 g$ X  The values of human life, respect for elders and children have been lost.
; P$ p  Q: F7 G' C- q" ? , W( @8 ~4 I' D  [0 h& y
  We have gangs and random killings in the streets of most cities in our country.8 p5 g( m& q' Y1 I, r5 M
1 c% f: {: x8 T8 f6 g4 z1 X' W. }
  Are these my values?  _& u" _) L, T& [! Y1 R5 o- V
9 H7 I, I6 h" i; ~- {# s" `: G8 f
  They are most certainly not.
